Deaf Connexions

Deaf Connexions is a Voluntary Organisation working across Norfolk for our Deaf Community.

We provide a range of support to enable Deaf people to access services and raise awareness about the impact of Deafness on people’s lives.

We mainly work with the Deaf British Sign Language Community but anyone with any type of hearing loss is welcome.

Our Vision
To improve the quality of life for Deaf people by breaking down the barriers they face daily.
To have a significant involvement in areas where Deaf people experience disadvantage and exclusion

Laura Hawksworth
Trustee
My name is Laura Hawksworth and I’ve been a Trustee for almost three years now. Raised by deaf parents, I’m profoundly deaf myself using BSL, and being a mother of a CODA (Child of Deaf Adult), I’ve been strongly involved in the deaf community for over a decade with a desire to improve things for us all. My interests are Egyptology, philosophy and debating.
Howard Jones

Howard Jones
Treasurer
Hello my name is Howard Jones
I have been a Trustee since 1999

My reason for being a Trustee is to support the fantastic work undertaken by Deaf Connexions to support the deaf community. As honorary treasurer, my role is to ensure that Deaf Connexions remains financially resilient now and into the future.

My interests: Parkrun (free every Saturday morning 9am!) and riding my bicycle(s): particularly enjoying the Waveney Valley and the Norfolk coast..
Verity Gibson

Verity Gibson

My Name is Verity Gibson. I became a trustee after I retired in 2003 following my time as Sensory Support Manager. One of the major aims of the team as it developed was to improve access for Deaf people through communication support, firstly with sessional workers and then with a professional team of Interpreters who could provide a consistent and available service. It was for that reason I became a Trustee after retiring.
