Gosh - a whole new decade! And some fresh new news and events! Get them whilst they are hot!

 

The ''Children In Need'' fundraising event grand total amount was £398.60. The extra money was from the sale of dvd's by Simon Moore  who video' d the signed song at the event. Many many thanks to everyone involved!

 

Thanks too, to everyone who helped to make the Coffee Morning Christmas party a huge success - especially thanks to Pat for her cakes and gorgeous mince pies! About 50 Deaf and hearing people came to join in the fun!

 

....and a big thanks from Deaf Connexions and Norwich Sports and Social Club to everyone who helped to put up the Christmas decorations...what a fabulous job!

There will be  two signed performances of the popular pantomime ''Robin Hood'' at the Theatre Royal Norwich on 16 January 2010 at 2.30pm and 7.30pm. Jim Dunne is the interpreter.

The Spixworth Amateur Players 2010 pantomime ''Dick Whittington'' will be at Spixworth Village Hall with an Interpreted Performance (With British Sign Language) on Thursday 18th February at 7.30 pm.  Tickets £3.50 available from Lynne on 01603 897605 Or email Lynne on lynnejeffrey@msn.com

 

 

The Association of Sign Language Interpreters will be holding some interesting regional training open to all (suggest Level 3 BSL and up). It is on Hands on/Visual Frame interpreting. It will be at Delia's Canary Catering, Norwich City football Club, carrow Road, Norwich NR1 1JE on Tuesday 23 March 11-5. Music and the Deaf are hosting a training event to promote the work they do and help others to do it too at Colman Junior School, South Park Avenue, Norwich NR4 7AU on Tuesday February 2nd 2010. It will be run by Dr Paul Whittaker and centre around singing and signing.

 

And it is FREE!

Deaf History Group will meet again on 10 Feb 2010 at 10.30 at the Deaf Community Centre. Do come along if you are interested in any aspect of Deaf history and we would be delighted to see you.

 

 

There will be a captioned performance  of ''Noises Off'' a comedy by Michael Frayn at the New Wolsey Theatre Ipswich on 11 march at 7.45pm. This performance will have subtitles (like on tv) for deaf and hard of hearing theatre-goers to watch whilst the play is being acted.

 

 

A course for communicators at the City Lit in London

 

''Visually Effective BSL''

30 January 2010 cost £112

 

The course explores how to be more visually creative with BSL so that you gain confidence in your BSL productive and receptive skills. Tutors: Darren Townsend-Hanscombe and Mark Hopkinson.
